Plot

"The Nurse's Dream" is a classic Dream Seeker tale, showing Dace Senoit inspiring an RN named Shanita Williams to remember a dream that reveals that one's children may have a positive recuperatory effect on an ailing parent.  She was helping treat Charlie Olkason, a father who refused to let his two children see him after undergoing brain surgery. Shanita convinced his wife, Margie, that seeing his kids was just what he needed.

In the end, when Shanita goes to thank Dace (he had acted like a hospital employee to gain access to Shanita), he was gone.  He left a note on her car window two and a half months later, explaining everything.  Shanita came to believe that Dace was an angel.

Creators' Comments

TONY SAYS:

"I wrote a positive, uplifting story to show the Dream Seeker's ability to help people heal.  This story exemplifies the essence of the Dream Seeker -- helping humanity one person at a time.

The Dream Seeker is a great character -- you could take away all the Icons and end-of-world scenarios, and you would still have a compelling story."

Memorable Quotes

"You know, in some ways, it's almost easier to watch someone die than to watch the rest of the family live on!  Some families, like the woman you saw, aren't ready for the worst." - Shanita Williams, talking to Dace

Tony was thinking Touched by an Angel when he wrote this.

Tony's wife used to be a surgical tech.  The hospital descriptions and nurse were inspired by her experiences.
