FAQ

What is this all about?

Imagine a man who, when he spoke, triggered memories of dreams long forgotten. Imagine if those memories he triggered were just the thing you needed to help you cope with an upcoming struggle or tragic event in your life. Imagine if that dream led you down a path you had never taken before, and would never have taken, if not for that man's words. Imagine if this person not only inspired individual men and women to achieve their true purpose in life, but also helped a nation achieve hers. This is the story of a man. An individual, coaxing society towards deeper meaning. This is the story of the Dream Seeker.

What form of media is the Dream Seeker?

Damian Hospital and Anthony Vahl have written numerous short stories and created all of the characters in the Dream Seeker Universe (DSU). The first book they had self-published "The Velvet Mask", contains a collection of the first stories, which were originally published on their website www.DailySkew.com. Then Tony and Damian self-published a full-length novel "Return of Joshua". Some stories are on the Daily Skew. PDF versions of "The Velvet Mask" and "Return of Joshua" are also available for download.

What are your goals?

To enlighten others, and ourselves, while we're at it. We'd also like a publisher or agent to represent and back The Dream Seeker (tm) because we believe the characters and story-lines are very marketable to certain niches. Due to the costs of printing, our self-publishing venture hasn't turned a profit yet, and we don't expect it ever will without the backing of publisher.

Tony and Damian continue to have visions of a Dream Seeker television show, movie, video games, toys, and graphic novels/comic books. We'd like to generate profits so we can focus solely on the DSU. Expanding our audience to spread the positive and thought provoking messages goes hand-and-hand with getting a publisher to back our work, and getting an agent. If we have to team-up with a not-for-profit organization, that's fine, too. We are not in it for the money. If we were, we would have quit years ago.

What is your message?

We have several messages: spiritual growth, emotional maturity, to question belief systems to see what works for you, that there is a right and wrong way to behave due to consequences of actions, and more.

What is your genre?

Unfortunately, we can't really label Dream Seeker (tm) as one genre. It has aspects of fiction, sci-fi, speculative fiction, comic books, adventure, parody, action, and romance.

What makes your writing so special?

Our versatility: we are original and innovative, yet pay homage to what came before us. We cover serious topics, yet are humorous as well. We tackle issues at the macro- and micro- level.

Is it for everyone?

Yes, the human condition is universal, as are our stories. Unfortunately, not everyone is interested in our presentation or has the patience to read them. We target readers from 16-36. Many of our stories require the reader to think. Others are loaded with pop culture, New York, Florida, comic book, and baseball references. We keep our stories clean, so they are for general audiences.

What are the critics saying?

We've received reviews calling our work total crap, and others saying how innovative and exciting our work is- just about the same spectrum of reviews for all books, movies, shows, games, and music!!!!

Are you guys anti-establishment?

We try to present as many viewpoints as possible. Our characters represent different beliefs, even if we don't believe in them. We try our best to put everything on the table. That may be offensive to some. Our portrayal of a fake-Jesus, and The Nihilist's anti-Christian rants may also be offensive to some. We realize we can't please anyone. We get great satisfaction in writing dialogue that stirs emotions, just like conversations or debates that you get involved with at your office or see on various media. Rest assured, we have characters that take care of immoral and evil actions.

Do you sell any books or what?

Yes, every now and then we do! Considering that we haven't invested serious cash into marketing, that's good!

Why create a wiki that gives away spoilers?

We don't feel sales will decrease! :-) This wiki contains all the info about the characters, stories, and events about the DSU, but nothing beats actually holding a hardcover book in your hands, now does it? :-) This wiki is the ultimate reference tool of all things DSU.
